The TriState Adaptive Sports Association (TASA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing world-class adaptive sports and recreational opportunities to people with disabilities in west Tennessee, northern Mississippi, and eastern Arkansas. We assist in breaking down barriers and changing misconceptions that people with disabilities cannot play sports or be active in their community. TASA gives members the opportunity to participate in bowling, tandem-cycling, archery, goalball, and community adventure sports. TASA has served more than 120 individuals through our programs.
TASA is the only cross-disability adaptive sports organization in our area. Ninety percent of our board of directors are persons with disabilities, and they understand the isolation, segregation, and discrimination of not being able to participate in sports and recreational activities firsthand. They know what it is like to be excluded and never picked to play on a team. TASA believes that everyone deserves a chance to be a real part of his or her community.
